Cartoon Network Number One Kids Channel In Asia 1Q 2016
Turner Asia-Pacific has revealed that its kids television channels were the most popular in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of viewing ratings during the first part of this year. Turner’s kids channel portfolio in Asia includes Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Toonami and POGO. Turner’s kids channels portfolio were the most popular in terms of audience share for children and families in 2015 and for the first quarter of 2016.
Mark Eyers, senior VP and Chief Content Officer for Turner’s Kids Networks in Asia Pacific states that their children’s channels are successful because of investment in localisation, new shows and embracing creativity in the region with its animated shorts programme:
“This depth of content is also complemented by investment in localisation, strategic content acquisitions, digital offerings and an original shorts program within Asia Pacific that is paying remarkable dividends. Above all else, our leadership position speaks to the ability of our brands to engage the most amount of kids and their families, across platforms, around the region. With Cartoon Network Studios pumping out the best animation in the business and a ground-breaking volume deal for Warner Bros. titles now in place, our content pipeline has never looked so strong.”
During the last two years, Turner has been expanded in Asia, Boomerang Southeast Asia was relaunched in January 2015, and has since expanded distribution in Singapore and Malaysia. Boomerang South Korea launched last November with Boomerang making a non-linear debut in Vietnam earlier this month. Within the last two years, Toonami has launched into Thailand and India.
