Viacom India New VOD Service Includes Cartoon Network Shows
Media corporation Viacom is expanding in India by launching a new subscription VOD service called Voot later this month, the new on-demand service will be operated by Viacom18, a joint venture owned by Viacom and India’s Network18. The Viacom18 joint venture operates channels such as MTV India, VH1, Comedy Central as well as the Hindi entertainment channel Colors. Despite the fact that new VOD service is owned by a rival company, Viacom18 has acquired the VOD rights to Turner’s animation library, which includes shows that currently air on Cartoon Network and Pogo, including popular local animated shows such as Chotta Bheem and Mighty Raju.
